Leo reacted differently when his grandmother came by and clung to Zoe with his emotional hands.
It was strange that Leo, who normally adored his grandmother, was acting differently. Zoe couldn’t ignore her worries and thought, “He’s still young, maybe it’s a phase.” However, her uneasy feelings persisted and the situation quickly deteriorated.

One night, just before Zoe went to her night shift, Leo suddenly burst into tears, begging his mother not to leave as he held her tightly, his voice shaking with fear and his eyes filling with tears as he pleaded for her presence and comfort, dreading the lonely night that lay ahead without her familiar presence and reassurance.
“He sobbed that he didn’t want Grandma to stay with him. His words cut Zoe deeply, and she tried to calm him down, but saw uncertainty in his eyes that she had never seen before.”
When Zoe pressed further, she discovered that Leo was uncomfortable with the way his grandmother was behaving, whispering that she was ‘acting strange’ and ‘kept trying to put things in his mouth’.

A Motherly Confrontation
The next morning, after a night shift spent worrying about her son, Zoe came home to find Leo relaxing on the couch, his eyes still filled with emotion.
He told Zoe that his grandmother had asked him to open his mouth to clean it with a cotton swab.
“She said she needed my spit,” Leo whispered, as Zoe looked up in alarm. She wondered what Denise was up to – was it just a routine test or did it have a deeper meaning? Zoe could sense the concern in Leo’s voice and decided to reassure him.
Denise asked her grandson for help without Zoe’s permission, which made Zoe worried. Her intuition told her that there was more to it, so she decided to talk to Denise directly.
Zoe went into the guest room, woke Denise up and told her she wanted to make a candid revelation about Leo’s parentage, because of his striking blond hair.
She suspected that Leo was not Andrew’s biological son and secretly attempted to conduct a DNA test.
