Others appreciated the little girl’s flair for art. One person wrote, This is adorable!” “She is quite the artist already!!!” praised another fan.
When she has spoken of her daughter, Riley has said how she believes the little girl looks like her husband Ben Smith-Petersen. In an interview last year, Riley said, “She’s literally like someone shrunk my husband and that’s our baby.”
But she also wanted to point out what her daughter took from her. She said “I’ll show you where I am,” and turned her toddler around to show the interviewer a view of the back of her head. “This curl right here,” she said.
As for her motherhood journey, Keough merely shared that she does her best. She said, “I don’t think you ever can be a perfect parent, but I would like to be the best mom for her that I can be.”
Her daughter was born in August 2022 via surrogacy, which Riley talked about as a “a very cool, selfless, and incredible act.”
As for why she decided to go with surrogacy she shared, “I can carry children, but it felt like the best choice for what I had going on physically with the autoimmune stuff.”
She named her daughter after her legendary grandfather Elvis Presley’s birthplace of Tupelo, Mississippi.
She said of it, “It’s funny because we picked her name before the ‘Elvis’ movie. I was like, ‘This is great because it’s not really a well-known word or name in relation to my family—it’s not like Memphis or something.’”
After the movie came out, she noticed how the word had grown in popularity and remembered thinking, “I was like, ‘Oh, no.’ But it’s fine.”
