My Husband Started Acting Suspiciously Lately, and When I Found Out Why, I Nearly Ruined His Life — Story of the Day
I stared at him, trying to understand. “Did you know this all along?”
“No,” he said, shaking his head. “I thought everyone felt this way. That being in a relationship was hard for everyone, that it was normal to feel like you’re constantly struggling. It wasn’t until I met Colin that I realized… it wasn’t supposed to be like that.”

I wiped a tear from my cheek. “You know, you could have just told me, Trent,” I said. “But instead, you chose to cheat, to lie to me, and make me feel like I was the problem. Like it was my fault that everything was falling apart.”
Tears streamed down Trent’s face, and he wiped them with the back of his hand. “I… I’m an idiot,” he said, his voice breaking. “I was so scared, and I thought hiding was the only way. I never wanted to hurt you, but I did. I’m sorry. I still love you, Alison. I always will… but not in the same way.”
I nodded, feeling a strange calm. “Not like you love Colin,” I said, my voice steady.

“No,” he said, looking down. “It doesn’t make anything right. I’m a complete jerk. I hurt you and Nora. I know she senses something is wrong, even if she doesn’t understand. I’ve been weak.”
“But you don’t have to stay weak,” I told him. “If you want to make this right, you need to be honest. With me, with Nora, and most importantly, with yourself. That’s the only way I can even start to think about forgiving you.”
