I Found a Note in My Daughters Backpack Saying, I am Your Real Dad, Come and See Me After School, I Went Pale When I Found Out Who Did It

Trent’s blood ran cold. It was Jeff, a quiet coworker he’d barely noticed before. But now, that man stood there, waiting for his daughter.

Lily approached Jeff, and Trent cracked his car window, straining to hear their conversation.

“You came,” Jeff said in a calm, unnerving voice. “I wasn’t sure if you would.”

Lily shifted uncomfortably, fidgeting with her backpack straps.

“Your mom wanted you to know the truth,” Jeff continued, his voice almost too gentle. “She didn’t want to hurt you. Or… him.”

Rage boiled inside Trent. He couldn’t sit still any longer. Bursting out of the car, he stormed toward them. “What the hell is going on here?”

Jeff stiffened, clearly surprised. “Trent, I was hoping we could talk.”

“Talk? You think you can just tell my daughter that you’re her father?” Trent’s voice shook with fury.

Jeff’s eyes flicked to Lily, who looked utterly confused. “She deserves to know the truth. Kate and I had a… relationship. Lily is my daughter.”

Trent’s fists clenched as disbelief flooded him. “No. You’re lying. Kate wouldn’t do that. She wouldn’t keep something like that from me.”

“She didn’t want to hurt you,” Jeff said calmly, as if what he was saying was perfectly reasonable. “She thought it was for the best.”

Trent turned to Lily, who was staring at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. “Dad… is it true?”

Trent’s heart broke at her words. He dropped to his knees in front of her, gripping her shoulders gently. “Lily, listen to me. I’ve been your dad every single day of your life. That’s what makes me your father, no matter what anyone says.”
