The Powerlessness
Derek felt further and further away from the answers, despite all his efforts and desperate search for a solution.
The emergency services have done their utmost and deployed all available resources, but so far their efforts have not yielded any results.
He visited the office daily hoping for news of Amber’s recovery.
“The answer remained the same: “As soon as we know anything, we will let you know immediately.” This phrase stuck as time passed.”
“Derek was exhausted from sleepless nights, but remained optimistic and determined to find Amber.”
He could never give up his daughter, she meant everything to him and he couldn’t fathom never being able to hug her again.
An Unexpected Turn
As Derek walked home, he saw a familiar woman with a backpack near the park.
His heart skipped a beat as he got closer, it was his daughter Amber’s backpack.
Derek approached the woman hopefully and determinedly and asked with trembling hands, “Where did you get that backpack?”
“The woman calmly replied, “Found it at the bus station.”
A girl left it behind, which gave Derek hope that Amber was nearby and maybe he was closer to her than he thought.
The Real Clue
With trembling hands, Derek opened the backpack and found a folded piece of paper among the usual items, searching for a clue that could lead him to his daughter.
“As he quickly scanned the paper, he saw the address “Hostess Family” – the first clue since Amber disappeared.”
Without wasting a moment, he immediately got into the car and drove to the given address, hoping to find more answers there.
Answer
The address Derek was given led him to a quiet residential area on the edge of town, where he was greeted by neat gardens and friendly faces that defined the atmosphere of the neighborhood.
He rang the doorbell at the house and a friendly woman opened the door. Derek introduced himself and explained the whole situation, hoping that Amber had been here before and that she might have information that would help him find her.
Unfortunately, the woman didn’t know Amber and none of the girls matched Derek’s description, leaving her with no idea where to begin her search. She decided to follow a different trail and continue searching for clues that might lead her closer to the truth.
Derek, feeling disappointed by the rejection, decided not to give up anyway. He thanked the woman kindly for her honesty and thoughtfully returned to the busy streets of the city.

Miranda initially denied it, claiming she had not heard from their daughter in weeks, despite numerous attempts by friends and family members to contact her and express their concerns about the sudden radio silence.
When Derek found Amber’s inhaler in her bag, things changed dramatically. The fact that it was there was clear evidence that Miranda knew more than she was admitting, and it created an awkward atmosphere between the two of them.
The Truth
Miranda, visibly nervous after being caught in her lie, admitted that Amber had sought her out. There had been a brief conversation between them, but Amber had stormed off before they had a chance to really talk.
Miranda tried her best, but could not stop her daughter from leaving the complicated situation.
Derek felt both confusion and relief in his heart, because he felt like he wasn’t close enough to Amber yet to fully express his feelings for her.
The Reunion
After the conversation, Derek and Miranda heard a strange noise coming from outside and they looked out the window curiously. To their surprise, they saw Amber in the distance on a bench in the small park next to the café, gently swaying to the melody of the wind.
Derek felt a wave of relief flow through him and hugged his daughter tightly, as if he never wanted to let her go.
Amber smiled at her father with relief and whispered softly, “I’m sorry, Dad. I didn’t mean to worry you.”
“Derek hugged her tightly and said softly, ‘It’s okay, Amber. You just wanted to see your mom. You’re getting two weeks of rest.’
“He made a joke to break the tension, which made Amber feel safe and loved again, despite her tears.”
