After more than two decades, fans will finally get to see a sequel to the hit 2003 movie

More than two decades on since Freaky Friday was released, fans of the hit movie are set to get a sequel.

The sequel, which will be called Freakier Friday, was announced in May of last year and is set to be released later this year, on August 8.

The show will once again star Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman in the hit flick.

Joining them in coming back from the first film will be Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Lucille Soong and Rosalind Chao.

Meanwhile, actors Manny Jacinto and Julia Butters made the casting, with Nisha Gantra getting the nod to take over the reigns from Mark Waters. Gantra directed the Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson film Late Night.

For those of us who aren’t familiar with the original cult film, in a hilarious turn of events on one particular Friday, the movie sees the leading pair switch bodies after they have a heated argument and subsequently take on – and get a deeper insight into – each other’s lives.
