“Deadly Wildfires Blaze Across Los Angeles County, Destroying Thousands of Homes and Shutting Down Schools”

At least five people have died as wind-driven fires continue to rage across Los Angeles County, with the death toll expected to rise, California Gov. Gavin Newsom reported. The Palisades Fire, burning between Malibu and Santa Monica, has grown to over 17,000 acres and destroyed 1,000 structures, making it the most destructive fire in LA history. The other massive blaze, the fast-moving Eaton Fire, is overtaking homes. The Eaton Fire, now over 10,000 acres, threatens 13,000 buildings. In response, all Los Angeles Unified School District schools will close Thursday, as fires have burned two schools in the Palisades.
