Vegas man, 26, raped by his own mother as a child now fears his brother, 15, is also his son
A man from Las Vegas who was sexually assaulted by his own mother on multiple occasions since he was ten years old is afraid that his younger brother may be his biological son.
Doreene Gifford sexually molested 26-year-old Logan Gifford on a regular basis between the ages of 10 and 16.
Only until he reported his mother to the police did the attacks cease.
He eventually testified against his mother, who accepted a plea agreement and was given a sentence of 8–20 years in prison for attempted sex assault in 2015.
In court, Gifford described how his mother’s abuse began and that he had been exposed to drug use as a child. She has maintained her innocence for a long time.
He claimed that when his mother sexually attacked him, she took him into a bedroom she shared with his father, Theodore, where a pornographic DVD was playing.
Because of his mother’s terrible actions, Gifford was left to assist in raising his younger brothers, including his own 15-year-old brother who might also be his son.
The child, whose name Gifford has kept secret, has cognitive impairments. Incest-affected children are more likely to have genetic illnesses and impairments.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal, Gifford stated that he thinks he might be his sibling’s father because he was born around the time of the sexual assaults.
“Look at the mess that I’m left with,” he said to the publication. None of this was something I requested.

In order to determine whether his own brother is, in fact, his son, Gifford is currently pursuing a paternity petition in the Vegas courts.
According to Timothy Treffinger, his lawyer, his mother has disputed that Gifford is the father and stated that she would be open to having a paternity test conducted.
Gifford thinks that another incident of sexual assault may have occurred around the end of 2008, when his brother might have been conceived.
He also told the outlet how he had grown up near child protective services because his brother Liam drowned in a pool when he was three years old.
Over time, more acts occurred until about 2014. In the case of attempted sexual assault and attempted lewdness with a minor, his mother entered a plea.
An Alford plea is the name given to the plea she took.
In this case, the defendant just agrees that the prosecution has sufficient evidence to prosecute them.
In a statement at the time of her sentence, her public defender stated that Gifford harbored resentment toward his mother and that his account of what happened was riddled with contradictions.
According to the note, Doreene was raised by violent parents who were frequently in and out of jail, went through an abusive foster system as a child, married an abusive spouse, and eventually abused crystal meth.
“I was a kid when all of this happened, but now I have to pick up the pieces of something that really still has an impact on my life and drag me to deal with that,” Gifford continued.

“I feel that I have a duty or obligation to him to do this and discover the true identity of his biological father.”
Gifford informed the source that a therapist had suggested to him that he might be his brother’s father.
“I was 17 at the time,” he continued. That caught me off guard.
After receiving a disability check, his younger brother moved in with Gifford, who is currently under temporary guardianship.
Prior to moving in with his older sibling in January, the teenager had been living with Theodore.
The current court case will turn into a custody dispute if it is determined that Gifford is the father. It will still be a guardianship issue if he is not the father.
Whether or not Gifford is the father, his attorney claims that establishing paternity is more difficult because Theodore’s DNA would be present in both brothers.
“As a male survivor, it is extremely distressing to consider that my brother might be the result of my sexual assault,” Gifford stated.
But now he’s here. Nothing can be undone by going back. Additionally, he is entitled to a comfortable, childlike quality of life.
After breaking a parole requirement that she had no victim contact, Doreene was arrested in January after being released on parole in July of previous year.
According to state authorities, she is presently being held inside Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center and is scheduled to appear in court in April for a parole violation hearing.
