Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are most likely unaware of the feud between their parents and the big ol’ institution called the British monarchy. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the Royal Family – before making several serious accusations – has had dire consequences for their two young children. Not only do Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet not know their family, but they’ve barely had a chance to meet them.
Reports claim that King Charles is desperate to see and grow a relationship with his US grandchildren. The issue is that the king can’t drop everything and travel to the US to meet them, while Harry doesn’t want to bring Archie or Lilibet to the UK because of security issues.
However, now Charles at least gets to hear their voices. In a new clip shared by Meghan, grieving the passing of her dog, Archie and Lilibet are heard singing together for the first time—and royal fans were left amazed by what they heard.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to create a more private life for themselves when they left the Royal Family five years ago. After a short stint in Canada, the couple settled in Montecito, California, about a 90-minute drive from Los Angeles. At the time, they only had one child, Prince Archie, who was born in the UK.
In 2021, a little more than a year after Harry and Meghan left the UK, the couple welcomed their second child, Princess Lilibet. Though the Sussexes have primarily been left alone by the UK paparazzi press, they’ve hardly made it easy for themselves to keep a low profile.
Besides lashing out against the Royal Family in interviews and Harry’s book, Spare, they’ve gone on to explore business ventures in many different areas, which has in turn brought them a lot of attention.

“I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can’t,” a friend, referring to Harry’s struggle to get enhanced security in the UK, the friend told US Magazine.
“William’s kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they’re recognizable. And the same doesn’t apply to Meghan and Harry’s children. They know the world wants to see [them but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does.”
Moreover, a source told People Magazine: “Harry has been cautious about showcasing his children publicly, not out of a wish to obscure them but to shield their privacy and ensure their safety from potential risks.
“He wants them to enjoy as normal a life as possible, free from fears of kidnapping or harm. As a father and husband, Harry is resolute in his commitment to preventing history from repeating itself.”
Although Harry and Meghan have many friends in the surrounding area and probably other children with whom Archie and Lilibet can play, one significant thing is missing in the young children’s lives. Their relationship with their UK family, including cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as well as uncle Prince William and foremost grandfather King Charles, is non-existent. Charles has met Archie only a few times, Lilibet just once. It’s not even certain that his youngest granddaughter even knows who he is.
Charles has been desperate to build a relationship with Prince Harry’s children, to watch them grow up and, of course, get to meet them often. A source told the Mirror: “He values family above everything,g and whatever the course of his relationship with his son, he would never be content with just seeing his grandchildren on the odd video call.”
King Charles “hardly knows” Archie & Lilibet
Speaking with the Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond said that the fact that his grandchildren are so far away is a “great sadness” for Charles.
“He hardly knows them and there’s no prospect of that changing any time soon,” she said. “The early years in a child’s life are so magical – and once they’re gone, they’re gone. I hope the King doesn’t dwell on his loss too much, but it must hurt. Maybe, behind the scenes, Harry and Meghan have sent pictures to the King… we can but hope!”
There have been reports that Harry has spoken with his father via both video and regular calls in the last five years, and we have to hope that Charles has gotten to see Archie and Lilibet at the same time. Harry has been back in the UK several times in the last few years but won’t bring Archie and/or Lilibet with him. Why? He doesn’t think it’s safe enough for them, as he and Meghan were stripped of their security benefits when they left royal life.
Several royal experts have criticized the Duke and Duchess for not letting their children meet and spend time with their UK family, but family members have also criticized them. In July last year, Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, lashed out at his daughter and son-in-law, saying they are ‘denying’ their children the right to know their royal relatives.
“They are getting to the age where they will start to ask questions, as all kids do,” Markle told New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, as per The Sun. “I find myself wondering how Archie and Lilbet will feel in a few years’ time when they realize all the things they have missed out on.”
Prince Archie speaks in an American accent
Harry and Meghan featured their children in their Netflix series Harry & Meghan, released in 2023. There, fans got to hear Prince Archie speak for the first time, and many were baffled when they realized he didn’t have a UK accent.
In one heartwarming scene filmed by Meghan, Harry can be seen birdwatching with Archie from the patio of their Montecito mansion. Meghan was also watching the hummingbirds near their house, and Harry, an avid bird watcher, told his son that he should be quiet and listen to the sounds of nature.
“We won’t get a chance to be this close to hummingbirds ever again,” Harry told Archie.
Of course, at just three years old, Archie did the exact opposite. Just moments after being told to stay quiet by his father, he became rather loud.
“I’ve got a dirty foot, mama, because I was with you,” Archie said, and his parents laughed.
“You’ve got a dirty foot, sweetheart,” Meghan replied. “Papa is a birdwatcher so this is a really big moment for him.”
The documentary also included several intimate family pictures of Harry and Meghan with Archie. In one of the clips, Archie runs up a hill while Lilibet is pushed in a stroller by her father. Another of the royal couple’s photos shows Harry cuddling up with Archie – wearing a knitted hooded jumper with bear ears – beneath an umbrella.
Branded “adorable”
More photos follow, including those showing Archie and Meghan feeding their chickens and another from Archie’s birthday party, where Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, makes an appearance.
Other intimate pictures in the documentary revealed Archie resting on Meghan’s baby bump when she was pregnant with Lilibet. But the cutest picture of them all might be one where Archie, donning a blue hat and blue Crocs, sits on Harry’s shoulder in a sweet father-son moment.
Another short video of Archie was also included in the documentary. It shows a beautiful sunset from the Sussexes’ patio while Meghan asks Archie what he thinks.
“Well, it’s all done, beautiful,” he answered.
The fact that Archie is talking might not come as a surprise. However, many fans reacted to the manner of Archie’s speech. As he’s been living in the US for quite a while, the young boy has adopted an American accent – and fans couldn’t help but remark on it.
“Not Archie having the most adorable American accent,” one user wrote on Twitter.
“Prince Archie has an American accent? I didn’t have any expectations of what he’d sound like but it was not that,” a second person tweeted.
Meghan Markle shares sad news of her dog’s passing
In December, Harry and Meghan shared a Christmas photo of their family, though fans didn’t see their children’s faces. Some social media users accused them of manipulating the picture, but no evidence to support it was provided.
Not long ago, Meghan announced her new Netflix series, focused on cooking and lifestyle. Some hope Archie and Lilibet will be featured, but royal expert Jennie Bond highly doubts that will happen.
“There’s a sense of intrigue about Archie and Lilibet because we have seen so little of them, but I doubt they will feature in Meghan’s shows… especially as the filming was done away from their Montecito home. At most, there might be fleeting glimpses of them, but, quite understandably, Harry and Meghan have chosen to bring them up extremely privately,” she told the Mirror.
Just days ago, fans worldwide finally got to hear not only Prince Archie speak but also Princess Lilibet. However, this time, it is because of a very sad occasion.
On Instagram, Meghan Markle has shared that her beloved dog, Guy, passed away. She adopted the dog from a rescue in Canada, and the Duchess described how he had been at a “kill shelter” in Kentucky and had only days to live.
“I swooped him up….and fell in love,” Meghan wrote. “They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy.’ And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”
Fans ‘in tears’ over Prince Archie & Princess Lilibet singing in new video
Guy has experienced many major life events with Meghan, including how she ended her longtime tenure on the hit television show Suits and, of course, when she met, engaged, and married Prince Harry. However, just before she was supposed to move to the UK, Guy had a “terrible accident,” she explained.
“He endured a terrible accident shortly before I moved to the UK which had him undergoing surgeries for several months and unable to leave the clinic. Doctors said he would never walk again, but Dr Noel Fitzpatrick said he could do it. H (Prince Harry) and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end.”
Guy is featured in Meghan’s upcoming Netflix series, and in the post, she explained that she wanted to announce the news publicly before it aired.
“I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she continued. “I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”
Meghan Markle concluded: “Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
The Duchess included a long video with pictures and video clips of her together with her beloved dog. But besides praying for her and sending condolences, one specific detail at the end of the video left fans in tears. As the video came to an end, Archie and Lilibet’s voices were heard singing: “We love you, Guy, yes we do. We love you Guy, and we’ll be true. When you’re not near us, we’re blue.”
