BREAKING NEWS Heartbroken Parents

Esra was a teenager with a passion for sports; she was the captain of her netball team, enjoyed dancing and BMX riding. She had a large circle of friends and was loved by her family.

But during a sleepover with friends, she came into contact with chroming, something that changed her life forever and confronted her with the devastating consequences of inhaling chemicals, which severely affected her health and well-being.

An innocent trend among young people ended in a heartbreaking moment when Esra passed out after inhaling spray deodorant.

Despite intensive care, the health center could not help her and her family had to decide to stop the treatment.

Esra’s situation is an example of how quickly chroming can be damaging and the importance of raising awareness of this trend with parents, teachers and educators.

Her family is sharing their story to alert other families to the challenges of chroming and help them avoid pain.

What is Chroming

Young people use products such as deodorants, paint or other chemical household products to experience a special feeling known as chroming.

These products contain chemicals such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas) that reach the brain directly and cause a short-lived, uplifting feeling.

The name “chroming” comes from people who used to inhale chrome-containing paint, but now different products are used for the same effects.

The rapid absorption of chemicals into the body makes the practice even more challenging.

The substances enter the bloodstream and reach the brain within seconds, where they cause a feeling of euphoria similar to alcohol, but lasting much shorter.

These effects usually only last for 45 minutes, but many users do not realize that the volatile compounds can disrupt brain function and cause long-lasting changes.

Repeated use can lead to permanent changes in organs, even a one-time intake can be drastic as with Esra.

the Consequences of Chroming

The effects of chroming can be overwhelming in both the short and long term. In the short term, young people experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, loss of coordination and loss of consciousness.

But in the long term, these harmful substances can cause permanent changes in the structure and function of the brain, leading to problems with concentration, memory loss and difficulties with learning.

Additionally, the harmful chemicals inhaled can damage the lungs and heart, which in turn can lead to serious and long-term health problems, such as inflammation and scarring that forms in these vital organs.

Even the bone marrow can be affected by chromium, leading to various changes in the body.
